Circa 1925 Maria Monaci Gallenga hand-stenciled silk velvet evening gown. Peach tabard-style dress and separate under bodice with vermillion velvet medieval sleeves. The gown’s lining was fully restored in 1920s-era pongee silk through museum restoration techniques by the Parodi Costume Collection. Best for a size modern US2. Very Good Vintage Condition.
The final image showcases ‘The Theodesia,’ a garment from the same period with identical motifs, that is currently on display at the ‘Women Dressing Women’ exhibition in The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
A rare, collectors item that will continue to increase in value.
