Extremely special and rare, 1932 Valentina Schlee velvet butterfly motif stenciled capelet. ‘Valentina Six Eighty Two Madison Ave Paris New York’ label.

 

Adam Hayes, formerly at the Costume Institute, was able to date this piece based off of its motif design and label address. The piece strongly relates to two pieces currently in the MET Costume collection, which were both designed in the late twenties- early thirties.
